‘Dangerous nation for media’: India falls to 150th rank on World Press Freedom Index 2022

1. India is ranked 150th in the World Press Freedom Index 2022.

India’s ranking in the World Press Freedom Index has fallen down to 150th position from last year’s 142nd rank out of 180 countries, according to a report by a global media watchdog released on Tuesday.

विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता सूचकांक 2022 में भारत का 150वां स्थान है।

मंगलवार को जारी एक वैश्विक मीडिया प्रहरी की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता सूचकांक में भारत की रैंकिंग पिछले साल के 180 देशों में से 142वें स्थान से गिरकर 150वें स्थान पर आ गई है।

2. Ravindra Korisettar and Dr. Narayan Vyas who were conferred with Dr. Vishnu Sridhar Wakankar Samman by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The department of culture and directorate of archaeology has honoured two eminent personalities — Prof. Ravindra Korisettar and Narayan Vyas — with Dr Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar Samman. Prof Korisettar was honoured for the year 2018-19, while Dr Narayan Vyas for 2019-20. A samman samaroh was organized recently by the culture department and the directorate of archaeology. This honour is given by the department of archeology to Indian citizen and institution for creative, constructive and specific achievements in the field of archaeological culture and conservation of antiquity.

प्रो. रवींद्र कोरीसेट्टार और डॉ. नारायण व्यास जिन्हें मध्य प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा डॉ विष्णु श्रीधर वाकणकर सम्मान से सम्मानित किया गया।

संस्कृति विभाग और पुरातत्व निदेशालय ने डॉ विष्णु श्रीधर वाकणकर सम्मान के साथ दो प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्तियों – प्रो रवींद्र कोरीसेटर और नारायण व्यास को सम्मानित किया है। प्रो कोरीसेटर को वर्ष 2018-19 के लिए, जबकि डॉ नारायण व्यास को 2019-20 के लिए सम्मानित किया गया। संस्कृति विभाग और पुरातत्व निदेशालय द्वारा हाल ही में एक सम्मान समारोह का आयोजन किया गया था। यह सम्मान पुरातत्व विभाग द्वारा भारतीय नागरिक और संस्था को पुरातात्विक संस्कृति और पुरातनता के संरक्षण के क्षेत्र में रचनात्मक, रचनात्मक और विशिष्ट उपलब्धियों के लिए दिया जाता है।

4. RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee kept the repo rate at 4.40 percent in April 2022.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held between May 2-4, 2022 has decided to increase the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 40 basis points (bps) to 4.40 per cent with immediate effect from 4.00% earlier.

आरबीआई की मौद्रिक नीति समिति ने अप्रैल 2022 में रेपो रेट 4.40 प्रतिशत  रखा।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने 2-4 मई, 2022 के बीच आयोजित अपनी मौद्रिक नीति समिति (MPC) की बैठक में चलनिधि समायोजन सुविधा (LAF) के तहत पॉलिसी रेपो दर को 40 आधार अंकों (bps) से बढ़ाकर 4.40 करने का निर्णय लिया है। पहले के 4.00% से तत्काल प्रभाव से प्रतिशत।

5. DD National’s Best Friend Forever show won the ENVA Awards 2021.

Doordarshan has won ENBA Award 2021 for the best in-depth Hindi series for its TV series based on pet care ‘Best Friend Forever’ at the 14th edition of the Exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards (ENBA). The show is aired every Sunday at 7 pm and is also available on the YouTube channel of DD National.

दूरदर्शन ने एक्सचेंज4मीडिया न्यूज ब्रॉडकास्टिंग अवार्ड्स (ENBA) के 14वें संस्करण में पेट केयर ‘बेस्ट फ्रेंड फॉरएवर’ पर आधारित अपनी टीवी श्रृंखला के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ गहन हिंदी श्रृंखला के लिए एनवीए अवार्ड 2021 जीता है। यह शो हर रविवार शाम 7 बजे प्रसारित होता है और डीडी नेशनल के यूट्यूब चैनल पर भी उपलब्ध है।

6. Life Insurance Corporation of India launched the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) in Indian history.

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) on Wednesday said it will launch its initial public offer (IPO) on May 4, Wednesday. The issue will close on May 9, Monday. The state-owned insurer said the government will be selling shares in the price band of Rs 902-949. The government plans to offload 3.5 per cent stake or 22.13 crore shares in the company and raise Rs 20,557.23 crore. This is well short of earlier projection of about Rs 60,000 crore.

भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम ने भारतीय इतिहास का सबसे बड़ा आरंभिक सार्वजनिक निर्गम (IPO) लॉन्च किया।

जीवन बीमा निगम (एलआईसी) ने बुधवार को कहा कि वह 4 मई बुधवार को अपना आरंभिक सार्वजनिक निर्गम (आईपीओ) पेश करेगी। यह इश्यू 9 मई सोमवार को बंद होगा। राज्य के स्वामित्व वाली बीमा कंपनी ने कहा कि सरकार 902-949 रुपये के प्राइस बैंड में शेयर बेचेगी। सरकार की कंपनी में 3.5 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी या 22.13 करोड़ शेयर बेचने और 20,557.23 करोड़ रुपये जुटाने की योजना है। यह पहले के लगभग 60,000 करोड़ रुपये के अनुमान से काफी कम है।

7. Ronnie Osullivan won the 2022 World Snooker Championship.

Ronnie O’Sullivan (England) has won the 2022 World Snooker Championship by defeating Judd Trump (England) against 18-13 in the finals, which were held from April 16 to May 2, 2022 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England.

8. The world’s largest statue of Jesus Christ has been built in Brazil.
