SSC CGL Exam:

SSC CGL Exam conducts for the recruitment of Grade “B” and “C” category posts in various Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices. The exam is held in 4 stages called Tiers. SSC CGL 2021 Exam Pattern:

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) every year in four levels for various posts. The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:

SSC CGL Exam Pattern – Tier I, II, III & IV Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL Exam Pattern: The Staff Selection Commission of India will be conducting SSC CGL Exam in four stages: Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 & Tier-4 exams. While Tier-I & Tier-II exams will be conducted online, Tier-III will be a pen and paper-based exam and Tier-IV will be a computer skill test. Let’s have a look at the exam pattern for all these stages of SSC CGL 2021-22 Recruitment process one by one.

Candidates must note that the score for SSC CGL Tier-I & Tier-II Exam will be normalised if it is conducted in multiple shifts. The normalisation score will be decided by SSC and it will be considered final for selecting candidates for the further rounds (Tier-III & Tier-IV) of the SSC CGL Exam.

 

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL 2022 Tier-I exam will be conducted online comprising of 4 sections with about 100 questions in total and with maximum marks of 200. The entire exam is needed to be completed in a time span of 60 minutes.

The penalty for Wrong Answer: There is a negative marking of 0.50 Marks for each wrong answer. There is no sectional cut-off. No point will be deducted if the question is left blank or unattempt by a candidate.

 

SSC CGL Tier-II Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL Tier-II exam will be conducted online comprising of 4 papers with about 100 questions in Quantitative Ability, Statistics, General Studies (Finance and Economics) & 200 questions in English Language and Comprehension Papers, and with maximum marks of 200 for reach papers.

The penalty for Wrong Answer: There is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III, and Paper-IV.

 

SSC CGL Tier-III Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL Tier-III will be a descriptive test. The paper will be in English/Hindi and will constitute of 100 marks. The entire paper needs to be completed in 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam Pattern:

SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam is a Computer Skill Test. It will be conducted in two steps: DEST Test & CPT Test.

DEST: Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s writing skills.

CPT: This test is conducted to check a candidate’s proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Generation of Slides.

SSC CGL Exam 2022 FAQs:

There are four tiers in SSC CGL Exam 2022.

No. Paper-I, II, and III are compulsory for all posts. Paper-IV will be for only those candidates, for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

Questions from Reasoning Ability, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness are asked in SSC CGL Exam.

Yes. There is a negative marking of 0.50 in Paper I and 0.25 in Paper II of SSC CGL.

Paper 3 of SSC CGL will be pen and paper mode descriptive in nature. The candidates will have to write essays, précis, applications, letters. Tier III evaluates the candidates’ language proficiency, grammar knowledge, vocabulary usage, and writing skills in English/Hindi.

Candidates have to score 33 marks (33 percent) to qualify for the Descriptive paper.
