The Asian Track Cycling Championship 2022 ended on Wednesday with India’s Ronaldo Singh winning a historic silver medal in the men’s sprint event at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Chayanika Gogoi also clinched a bronze in the 10km women’s scratch race on the fifth and final day to help India finish with a total of nine medals – one silver and eight bronze – in the senior category. Ronaldo, who was celebrating his 20th birthday on Wednesday, started the day by defeating Kazakhstan’s Andrey Chugay, the eventual bronze medallists, in the semi-finals. Ronaldo lost the first race but bounced back to win the next two races to storm into the final.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new premises of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Vanijya Bhawan on Thursday at 10. Constructed near the India Gate, the Vanijya Bhawan is designed as a smart building which incorporates the principles of sustainable architecture with a special focus on energy saving. It will serve as an integrated and modern office complex that will be used by the two Departments under the Ministry, that is, the Department of Commerce and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

World Hydrography Day (WHD) is celebrated worldwide on 21 June every year to appreciate the work done in the field of hydrography in support of safe navigation at open seas and ports. Theme of World Hydrography Day for this year is “Hydrography – Contributing to the United Nations Ocean Decade”.

The Minister explained the multidimensional relationship between Ethiopia and India in the area of trade, investment, culture, education and other areas of cooperation. He underlined India’s desire to strengthen the multifaceted relation with Ethiopia based on mutual interest and cooperation. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also highlighted India’s focused strives to strengthen its relation with African Union. Ethiopian Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye (Ph.D.), said that the inauguration of the chancery and residence complex is a proof to the strengthening relation between the two sisterly countries. She said that more than 637 Indian companies are currently operating in Ethiopia while the trade volume between the two countries increasing by the day.

मंत्री ने व्यापार, निवेश, संस्कृति, शिक्षा और सहयोग के अन्य क्षेत्रों के क्षेत्र में इथियोपिया और भारत के बीच बहुआयामी संबंधों के बारे में बताया। उन्होंने आपसी हित और सहयोग के आधार पर इथियोपिया के साथ बहुआयामी संबंधों को मजबूत करने की भारत की इच्छा को रेखांकित किया। सुब्रह्मण्यम जयशंकर ने अफ्रीकी संघ के साथ अपने संबंधों को मजबूत करने के लिए भारत के केंद्रित प्रयासों पर भी प्रकाश डाला। इथियोपिया के महिला और सामाजिक मामलों के मंत्री, एर्गोगे टेस्फेय (पीएचडी) ने कहा कि चांसरी और निवास परिसर का उद्घाटन दो बहन देशों के बीच मजबूत संबंधों का प्रमाण है। उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान में इथियोपिया में 637 से अधिक भारतीय कंपनियां काम कर रही हैं, जबकि दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार की मात्रा दिन पर दिन बढ़ रही है।

जम्मू और कश्मीर के केंद्रीय मंत्री डॉ जितेंद्र सिंह ने आधिकारिक तौर पर उधमपुर जिले के दंडयाल पड़ोस में भूकंप विज्ञान वेधशाला का उद्घाटन किया। पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय ने जम्मू-कश्मीर में इस तरह का तीसरा केंद्र स्थापित करने के लिए 20 लाख रुपये खर्च किए।
“Assam has become the 36th state/UT to implement ONORC,” the ministry said in a statement. With this, the ONORC programme has been successfully implemented in all states and Union Territories, making food security portable throughout the country, it said. The implementation of ONORC was initiated in August 2019.

Former Australia cricketer, Lisa Sthalekar has become the first female president of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Association (FICA), the sport’s international player’s association. Her appointment was made at a meeting of the organisation’s executive committee in Switzerland, the first in-person meeting since the start of the Covid pandemic. Sthalekar joins a shortlist of former cricketers including Barry Richards, Jimmy Adams and Vikram Solanki to have held the post of FICA president.
