1. IIM Ahmedabad appoints Professor Bharat Bhasker as the new Director

• Professor Bharat Bhasker has been appointed as the new director of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) for five years, effective from March 1, 2023.
• Presently, he is working as a professor of Information Technology and Systems at IIM Lucknow.
• The term of the incumbent director, Prof Errol D’Souza, will be ended on January 31.

• Meanwhile, the Board of Governors has appointed Prof Arindam Banerjee as the Director-In-Charge from 1st -28th February 2023.

1. IIM अहमदाबाद ने प्रो. भरत भास्कर को नए निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया

• प्रो. भरत भास्कर को 1 मार्च, 2023 से प्रभावी पांच वर्षों हेतु भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान अहमदाबाद (IIMA) के नए निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• वर्तमान में, वह IIM लखनऊ में सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी और सिस्टम के प्रोफेसर के रूप में कार्यरत हैं।
• वर्तमान निदेशक प्रोफेसर एरोल डिसूजा का कार्यकाल 31 जनवरी को समाप्त हो जाएगा।
• इसी दौरान, बोर्ड ऑफ गवर्नर्स ने प्रोफेसर अरिंदम बनर्जी को 1 से 28 फरवरी, 2023 तक प्रभारी निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया है।

 

2. North India’s largest floating Solar project inaugurated

• The Governor of Punjab, Banwari Lal Purohit inaugurated North India’s largest floating Solar project of 2000kWp at Water Works in Chandigarh.
• He has also inaugurated a 500kWp floating Solar Project with Fountains at Dhanas Lake in Chandigarh.
• These projects were designed and executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society).
• It will generate a minimum of 35 Lac Units(kWh) of Solar Energy per year with 20% module efficiency.

2. उत्तर भारत की सबसे बड़ी तैरती सौर परियोजना का उद्घाटन

• पंजाब के राज्यपाल बनवारी लाल पुरोहित ने चंडीगढ़ में वाटर वर्क्स में 2000kWp की उत्तर भारत की सबसे बड़ी तैरती सौर परियोजना का उद्घाटन किया।
• उन्होंने चंडीगढ़ में धनास झील में फव्वारों के साथ 500kWp फ्लोटिंग सोलर प्रोजेक्ट का भी उद्घाटन किया।
• इन परियोजनाओं को क्रेस्ट (चंडीगढ़ रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी एंड साइंस एंड टेक्नोलॉजी प्रमोशन सोसाइटी) द्वारा डिजाइन और निष्पादित किया गया था।
• यह 20% मॉड्यूल दक्षता के साथ प्रति वर्ष न्यूनतम 35 लाख यूनिट (kWh) सौर ऊर्जा उत्पन्न करेगा।

 

3. NTPC Group capacity crosses 71GW

• NTPC (India’s largest power generator) Group capacity has crossed 71 GW with the successful completion of the trial operation of the first unit of 660 MW North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project, Jharkhand (3×660 MW).
• Impact: It will provide affordable power to Jharkhand, Bihar, WB, and Odisha.
• With this addition, the total installed capacity of NTPC has become 71544 MW
• The foundation for this NTPC project in Jharkhand was laid by the former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee

3. NTPC समूह की क्षमता 71GW को पार कर गई

• एनटीपीसी (भारत का सबसे बड़ा बिजली उत्पादक) समूह की क्षमता 660 मेगावाट उत्तर करनपुरा सुपर थर्मल पावर प्रोजेक्ट, झारखंड (3×660 मेगावाट) की पहली इकाई के परीक्षण संचालन के सफल समापन के साथ 71 GW को पार कर गई है।
• प्रभाव: यह झारखंड, बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल और ओडिशा को सस्ती बिजली प्रदान करेगा।
• इसके साथ ही एनटीपीसी की कुल स्थापित क्षमता 71544 मेगावाट हो गई।
• झारखंड में इस एनटीपीसी परियोजना की नींव पूर्व पीएम अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी ने रखी थी।

 

4. MoHUA and Imagine Panaji Smart City Development organize CEOs conference

• Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant has inaugurated the Smart Cities CEOs Conference on Data and Technology in Panaji.
• The two-day conference was organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in coordination with Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL).
• The conference has witnessed the participation of Chief Executive Officers/Municipal Commissioners of 100 Smart Cities.
• Agenda: To enable peer learning and the exchange of ideas

5. Krishi-Mahotsav: Pradarshani evam Prashikshan organized in Rajasthan

• The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has organized a two-day event, ‘Krishi-Mahotsav: Pradarshani evam Prashikshan’ at Kota, Rajasthan.
• It was organized in association with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan.
• Aim: To make Kota Division advanced and leading in the field of agriculture and rural development.
• Through the exhibition, the government can also spread awareness about the schemes of governments.

5. राजस्थान में कृषि-महोत्सव: प्रदर्शनी एवं प्रशिक्षण का आयोजन

• कृषि और किसान कल्याण विभाग ने कोटा, राजस्थान में दो दिवसीय कार्यक्रम ‘कृषि-महोत्सव: प्रदर्शनी एवं प्रशिक्षण’ का आयोजन किया।
• इसे राजस्थान सरकार के कृषि विभाग के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया था।
• उद्देश्यः कोटा संभाग को कृषि एवं ग्रामीण विकास के क्षेत्र में उन्नत एवं अग्रणी बनाना।

• The ICC has revealed the Men’s and Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2022.
• The ICC has recognized the 11 outstanding players.

7. National Girl Child Day 2023: 24 January

• India celebrates National Girl Child Day on 24 January every year to highlight the prejudice and injustice that girl children face.
• This day was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
• Aim: To encourage awareness about women’s rights in our country.
• The government has not officially announced a theme for National Girl Child Day 2023.
• Government initiatives to raise the status of girl children: Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, and BBBP.

7. राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस 2023: 24 जनवरी

• भारत बालिकाओं के प्रति पूर्वाग्रह और अन्याय को उजागर करने हेतु प्रत्‍येक वर्ष 24 जनवरी को राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस मनाता है।
• इस दिवस की स्थापना 2008 में महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा की गई थी।
• उद्देश्य: हमारे देश में महिलाओं के अधिकारों के संदर्भ में जागरूकता को प्रोत्साहित करना।
• सरकार ने आधिकारिक तौर पर राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस 2023 हेतु एक विषय की घोषणा नहीं की है।
• बालिकाओं के दर्जे को बढ़ाने हेतु सरकार की पहल: सुकन्या समृद्धि योजना और बीबीबीपी।

 

8. Sebi launches information database on municipal bonds

• SEBI has launched an information database on municipal bonds in a programme on municipal bonds and municipal finance, organized in New Delhi.
• The event was participated by representatives from various stakeholders, including MoHUA.
• Municipal Bonds:
  • It is also known as ‘muni bonds’.
  • It is a debt instrument that municipal corporations and other associated bodies in India issue them.
  • Whenever the local government body wants to raise funds, they issue these bonds.

8. सेबी ने म्युनिसिपल बॉन्ड पर सूचना डेटाबेस लॉन्च किया

• सेबी ने नई दिल्ली में आयोजित नगरपालिका बांड और नगरपालिका वित्त पर एक कार्यक्रम में नगरपालिका बांड पर एक सूचना डेटाबेस लॉन्च किया है।
• इस कार्यक्रम में MoHUA सहित विभिन्न हितधारकों के प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया।
• नगरपालिका बांड:
• इसे ‘मुनि बांड’ भी कहते हैं।
• यह एक ऋण लिखत है जो भारत में नगर निगम और अन्य संबद्ध निकाय उन्हें जारी करते हैं।
• जब भी स्थानीय सरकारी निकाय धन जुटाना चाहते हैं, वे इन बांडों को जारी करते हैं।

 

9. Indi Grid to buy Khargone Transmission for ₹1497cr

• India Grid Trust (IndiGrid) will acquire a 100% equity stake in Khargone Transmission at an enterprise value of around ₹1,497.5 crores.
• IndiGrid signed a share purchase agreement on January 21, 2023.
• Khargone Transmission was incorporated on November 28, 2015.
• The transmission project was awarded by the ministry of power for a 35-year period from the scheduled commercial operation date on a build, own, operate, and maintain (BOOM) basis.

9. इंडी ग्रिड 1497 करोड़ रुपये में खरगोन ट्रांसमिशन खरीदेगा

• इंडिया ग्रिड ट्रस्ट (इंडी ग्रिड) लगभग 1,497.5 करोड़ रुपये के उद्यम मूल्य पर खरगोन ट्रांसमिशन में 100% इक्विटी हिस्सेदारी का अधिग्रहण करेगा।
• इंडी ग्रिड ने 21 जनवरी, 2023 को एक शेयर खरीद समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
• खरगोन ट्रांसमिशन को 28 नवंबर, 2015 को शामिल किया गया था।
• बिजली मंत्रालय ने निर्माण, स्वामित्व, संचालन और रख-रखाव (बूम) के आधार पर निर्धारित वाणिज्यिक संचालन की तारीख से 35 वर्ष की अवधि हेतु ट्रांसमिशन परियोजना प्रदान की थी।

 

10. Bihar inks MoU with FSI for TOF field survey to promote agroforestry

• Bihar government in association with the Forest Survey of India (FSI) has decided to conduct a ‘Trees Outside Forest’ (TOF) field survey
• Aim: To identify the dominant tree species that are growing outside the recorded forest areas (RFA)
• As per the FSI India State of Forest Report, 2021, Bihar has registered an increase of 3.79% in growing stock in RFA and 0.58% in TOF
• The overall tree cover has also increased in the state from 2,003 sq km in 2019 to 2,341 sq km in 2021

10. बिहार ने कृषिवानिकी संवर्धन हेतु TOF फील्‍ड सर्वे हेतु FSI के साथ MoU किया

• बिहार सरकार ने भारतीय वन सर्वेक्षण (एफएसआई) के सहयोग से ‘ट्री आउटसाइड फॉरेस्ट’ (टीओएफ) क्षेत्र सर्वेक्षण करने का निर्णय लिया है।
• उद्देश्य: रिकॉर्ड किए गए वन क्षेत्रों (RFA) के बाहर उगने वाली प्रमुख वृक्ष प्रजातियों की पहचान करना।
• एफएसआई इंडिया स्टेट ऑफ फॉरेस्ट रिपोर्ट, 2021 के अनुसार, बिहार ने आरएफए में बढ़ते स्टॉक में 3.79% और टीओएफ में 0.58% की वृद्धि दर्ज की है।
• राज्य में कुल वृक्ष आवरण भी 2019 में 2,003 वर्ग किमी से बढ़कर 2021 में 2,341 वर्ग किमी हो गया है।

 

11. Odisha cabinet approves inclusion of 22 castes in State’s list of SEBC

• Odisha cabinet has cleared the inclusion of 22 castes in the list of Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC).
• The state government has approved the proposed Amendment of the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 by inserting subsection 3 under Section 9
• This enables the State Government to include such Backward Classes in the State list of SEBCs
• Article 15(4): It enables the State to make any special provisions for the advancement of any SEBC

11. ओडिशा कैबिनेट ने राज्य की SEBC सूची में 22 जातियों को शामिल करने की मंजूरी

• ओडिशा कैबिनेट ने सामाजिक और आर्थिक रूप से पिछड़े वर्गों (SEBC) की सूची में 22 जातियों को शामिल करने को मंजूरी दे दी है।
• राज्य सरकार ने धारा 9 के तहत उप-धारा 3 को सम्मिलित करके पिछड़ा वर्ग अधिनियम, 1993 के लिए ओडिशा राज्य आयोग के प्रस्तावित संशोधन को मंजूरी दे दी है।
• यह राज्य सरकार को ऐसे पिछड़े वर्गों को एसईबीसी की राज्य सूची में शामिल करने में सक्षम बनाता है।
• अनुच्छेद 15(4): यह राज्य को किसी भी एसईबीसी की उन्नति हेतु कोई विशेष प्रावधान करने में सक्षम बनाता है।

 

12. JUICE Space Mission of Europe to be launched in April 2023

• The European Space Agency’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) will be launched from the agency’s spaceport in French Guiana in April 2023.
• Aim: To explore the large, frigid worlds that orbit Jupiter, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa
• Ariane 5 will carry the satellite.
• JUICE will be the first satellite from the earth to enter the orbit of Ganymede.
• If launched in April 2023, the satellite is expected to enter Jupiter orbit by 2034 and will be deorbited in 2035.

12. यूरोप का JUICE अंतरिक्ष मिशन अप्रैल 2023 में लॉन्च किया जाएगा

• यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी का जुपिटर आइसी मून्स एक्सप्लोरर अप्रैल 2023 में फ्रेंच गुयाना में एजेंसी के स्पेसपोर्ट से लॉन्च होगा।
• उद्देश्य: कक्षा जुपिटर, गेनीमेड, कैलिस्टो और यूरोपा की परिक्रमा करने वाले बड़े, उन्मत्त संसार का पता लगाना।
• एरियन 5 उपग्रह ले जाएगा।
• गेनीमीड की कक्षा में प्रवेश करने वाला JUICE पृथ्वी से पहला उपग्रह होगा।
• अप्रैल 2023 में प्रक्षेपित किया जाता है, तो उपग्रह के 2034 तक जुपिटर की कक्षा में प्रवेश करने की उम्मीद है और 2035 में कक्षा से हट जाएगा।

 

13. President Murmu conferred PM’s national award for children

• President, Droupadi Murmu has conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2023 to 11 exceptional children in an award ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan.
• The awards are conferred upon children in the age group 5 – 18 years.
• This award is given in six categories – Art & Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Scholastic, Social Service, and Sports.
• Each awardee of PMRBP is given a medal, a cash prize of Rs.1 Lakh and a Certificate.

13. राष्ट्रपति मुर्मू ने बच्चों को पीएम के राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया

• राष्ट्रपति, द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने विज्ञान भवन में आयोजित एक पुरस्कार समारोह में 11 असाधारण बच्चों को प्रधानमंत्री राष्ट्रीय बाल पुरस्कार (PMRBP) 2023 से सम्‍मानित किया।
• यह पुरस्कार 5-18 वर्ष के आयु वर्ग के बच्चों को प्रदान किए जाते हैं।
• यह पुरस्कार छह श्रेणियों – कला और संस्कृति, बहादुरी, नवाचार, शैक्षिक, सामाजिक सेवा और खेल में दिया जाता है।
• PMRBP के प्रत्येक पुरस्कार विजेता को एक पदक, 1 लाख रुपये का नकद पुरस्कार और एक प्रमाणपत्र दिया जाता है।
