Chennai is India’s best city for women’s employment and it is followed by Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai, said a report by Avtar, a firm specialising in workplace inclusion. The report ranks 111 cities on parameters nurturing a conducive ecosystem for women’s employment.

India has got its 79th Grandmaster (GM) in a 16-year-old Pranesh M from Tamil Nadu. After beating GM Frode Olav Olsen Urkedal of Norway, Pranesh attained the required 2500 ELO ratings and won the Rilton Cup in the final round to claim the title. With this, he also becomes India’s first Grandmaster of this year.

India vs Japan auto market: India has managed to surpass Japan in auto sales in CY 2022, as per latest industry data, Nikkei Asia reported on Friday. India has now become third-largest auto market in the world for the first time in history. In a new and unique initiative, India will host a special virtual summit, the Voice of Global South summit, on January 12 and 13, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said Friday. “The ‘Voice of Global South Summit’ under the theme ‘Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose’ envisages bringing together countries of the Global South to share their perspectives and priorities on a common platform. More than 120 countries are being invited to participate in this Summit,” Kwatra said.

Gianluca Vialli, a former Italian striker who won Serie A and European championships with Sampdoria and Juventus before joining Chelsea as a player-manager, passed away at the age of 58. Vialli’s passing was announced by the Italian soccer federation on Friday.
