Dennis Parnell Sullivan Awarded the 2022 Abel Prize for Mathematics

US mathematician Dennis Parnell Sullivan honored with Abel Prize 2022.

Dennis Parnell Sullivan, distinguished professor in the College of Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematics, and the Albert Einstein Chair in Science (Mathematics) at the CUNY Graduate Center, is the recipient of the 2022 Abel Prize for Mathematics.

Russia used hypersonic missile on Ukraine for the first time.

The hypersonic missile, called Kinzhal (“Dagger” in Russian), was used in an attack on a large underground warehouse in southwestern Ukraine, according to Bloomberg News, which cited that Russia’s claim had yet to be independently verified.

Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov donated his Nobel Peace Prize to refugees from Ukraine.

Muratov, editor of Russia’s leading opposition newspaper Novaya Gazeta, was awarded the 2021 prize alongside Maria Ressa of the Philippines for their efforts “to safeguard freedom of expression”.

Jhajharia is a multiple-time Paralympics medal winner, having won his maiden gold during the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, his second gold medal during the Rio Games in 2016, and a silver medal during the 2020 Tokyo edition last year.

For the first time in India, the target of exporting goods of 400 billion dollars in the financial year was achieved.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday said that India had achieved the target of $400 billion in exports in FY2022 and complemented farmers, weavers, MSMEs, manufacturers, exporters for the achievement. “India set an ambitious target of $400 billion of goods exports & achieved this target for the first time ever. I congratulate our farmers, weavers, MSMEs, manufacturers, exporters for this success. This is a key milestone in our Atmanirbhar Bharat journey,” Modi tweeted on Wednesday.

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has launched the Sujalam 2.0 campaign for greywater management. Speaking at a function in New Delhi , Mr. Shekhawat said, under the Campaign government will mobilize Communities, Panchayats, Schools, Anganwadis to undertake greywater management. Over six lakh villages will see intense activity on Solid and Liquid Waste Management.

An uncommon experiment with Africa’s Boma technique undertaken at Keoladeo National Park in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district for capturing and translocating spotted deer is set to improve the prey base in Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, situated 450 km away. The move will lead to herbivores populating the forests ahead of the proposed shifting of two tigers to Mukundara.

Government of India has set a target of building 220 new airports by the year 2025.

Underlining the importance of the Civil Aviation sector in the Indian economy and calling it a “key element” of India’s growth, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday said that his government has set a target of creating 220 airports by 2025 in the country.

भारत सरकार ने वर्ष 2025 तक 220 नए हवाई अड्डों के निर्माण का लक्ष्य रखा है।

भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में नागरिक उड्डयन क्षेत्र के महत्व को रेखांकित करते हुए और इसे भारत के विकास का “प्रमुख तत्व” बताते हुए, नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने बुधवार को कहा कि उनकी सरकार ने देश में 2025 तक 220 हवाई अड्डे बनाने का लक्ष्य रखा है।
