As nationwide protests against the Agnipath scheme entered Day 4, various Union ministries have announced several beneficial measures to ensure support to Agniveers after their four-year service in the armed forces. The Centre on Saturday announced several incentives including reserving 10 per cent vacancies in its paramilitary and the defence ministry for ‘Agniveers’ and further said it will look into any grievance about the new military recruitment scheme “with an open mind”.

The book written by journalist-author RN Bhaskar, claims to bring to light, for the first time, the unknown aspects of one of the richest men in the world.

US-Canadian author, film-maker and Zen Buddhist priest, Ruth Ozeki has won the Women’s Prize for Fiction this year for her novel ‘The Book of Form and Emptiness”. Ozeki’s fourth novel, ‘The Book of Form and Emptiness’ tells the story of a thirteen-year-old boy who, after the tragic death of his father, starts to hear the voices of objects speaking to him. She was announced as the winner of the £30,000 prize at a ceremony in London, beating nominees including Elif Shafak, Meg Mason and Louise Erdrich.

Senior Diplomat Ruchira Kamboj, currently Indian ambassador to Bhutan, has been appointed as the next Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations at New York. She will succeed TS Tirumurti as the Indian ambassador to the United Nation. Ministry of External Affairs said, Ruchira Kamboj is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Shanghai-headquartered New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS countries has appointed former bureaucrat Dr D J Pandian as the Director-General of its India Regional Office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), the bank announced. Pandian earlier served as the Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of the Beijing-based Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in which India is the 2nd largest shareholder after China.

Khuvsgul Lake National Park in Mongolia has been added to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO. The decision was taken during the 34th session of the International Coordinating Council of the Man and Biosphere Program held in Paris.The Man and Biosphere Programme is an intergovernmental scientific program. It was set up in early 1970s by UNESCO.The primary aim of the programme is to establish a scientific basis for enhancing relationship between people and their environments.

मंगोलिया में खुव्सगुल लेक नेशनल पार्क को यूनेस्को के बायोस्फीयर रिजर्व के विश्व नेटवर्क में जोड़ा गया है। यह निर्णय पेरिस में आयोजित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समन्वय परिषद और बायोस्फीयर कार्यक्रम के 34 वें सत्र के दौरान लिया गया था। मैन एंड बायोस्फीयर कार्यक्रम एक अंतर -सरकारी वैज्ञानिक कार्यक्रम है। यह 1970 के दशक की शुरुआत में यूनेस्को द्वारा स्थापित किया गया था। कार्यक्रम का प्राथमिक उद्देश्य लोगों और उनके वातावरण के बीच संबंध बढ़ाने के लिए एक वैज्ञानिक आधार स्थापित करना है।
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s GSAT-24 satellite, built NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), was successfully launched by French company Arianespace from Kourou in French Guiana (South America) on Thursday. GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4180kg with pan-India coverage for meeting DTH application needs. It was the first “demand driven” communication satellite mission undertaken by NSIL post space sector reforms.

इंडियन स्पेस रिसर्च ऑर्गनाइजेशन (ISRO) के GSAT-24 सैटेलाइट, बिल्ड न्यूजपेस इंडिया लिमिटेड (NSIL) को सफलतापूर्वक फ्रांसीसी कंपनी एरियनस्पेस द्वारा गुरुवार को फ्रांसीसी गुआना (दक्षिण अमेरिका) में कोरौ से लॉन्च किया गया था। GSAT-24 एक 24-ku बैंड संचार उपग्रह है जिसका वजन 4180kg है, जो DTH आवेदन की जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए पैन-इंडिया कवरेज के साथ है। यह एनएसआईएल पोस्ट स्पेस सेक्टर रिफॉर्म्स द्वारा शुरू किए गए पहले “डिमांड संचालित” संचार उपग्रह मिशन था।
